Purpose

Limited Stay Visa allows you to stay in Indonesia for a period of time:

  • to work or conduct paid activities
  • as an expert or technical advisor
  • to conduct foreign investment
  • to perform commercial art, cultural, and musical performances
  • to participate in a professional sport competition
  • for production or quality control
  • to inspect or audit a branch office in Indonesia
  • to install or repair machinery
  • to do after-sale services
  • to conduct religious work
  • for commercial film making (with permission from relevant authorities)
  • for medical treatment
  • scientific research and training
  • education
  • family reunion/reunification
  • repatriation
  • retirement

Requirements

  1. A passport with at least three blank pages, with a minimum 12 month’s validity for 6 month stay; 18 month’s validity for 1 year stay; and 30 month’s validity for 2 year stay.
  2. Completed and signed application form.
  3. One recent colour passport sized photograph.
  4. Visa approval/authorisation letter (Telex) from the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration. 

To obtain visa approval letter, the applicant must have a sponsor (individual or organization) in Indonesia who shall apply for visa at the Immigration Office in Indonesia.

Once the application is approved, a visa approval letter will be sent to the applicant’s sponsor and to the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate.

  1. A letter of recommendation from a sponsor in Indonesia.
  2. A letter of employment from a company/organization in Australia.
  3. A letter from relevant government institution in Indonesia (if applicable).
  4. Evidence of sufficient funds for the intended period of stay in Indonesia (e.g. bank statement or salary slip).
  5. Copy of ticket or travel itinerary.
  6. Non-refundable visa fee of AU$ 235, per 1 July 2019. Payment can be made by EFPTOS or credit card at the Indonesian Embassy. For application by mail, payment must be made by Money Order payable to “the Indonesian Embassy”. Cash or cheque will not be accepted.
  7. Application by mail must enclose a self-addressed return envelope (preferably by Platinum Post or courier services).  It is the responsibility of the applicants to retain the tracking numbers of the return envelope. The Embassy is not liable for the delays or loss of any documents sent by mail. Please note that we do not provide information on delivery status, and recommend you check the status with the Australia Post.
  8. The Embassy may request an applicant to provide additional supporting documents if needed.

Notes

  1. The Limited Stay Visa issued by the Embassy is a single entry visa. Upon arrival in Indonesia, you must attend to the nearest immigration office within 7 days to apply for the Temporary Stay Permit (KITAS). The holders of KITAS  may  exit and re-enter Indonesia multiple times by applying for exit permit at the nearest Immigration Office.

  1. Application by mail must enclose a self-addressed return envelope (preferably by Express Post Platinum Post or courier services).  It is the responsibility of the applicants to retain the tracking numbers of the return envelope. The Embassy is not liable for the delays or loss of any documents sent by mail. Please note that we do not provide information on delivery status, and recommend you check the status with the Australia Post.
  2. Only after the Embassy has received a completed visa application form, can the Embassy start with the visa issuance process. The visa process will take approximately 8 - 10 working days from the date of acceptance of the document by the Embassy. The process may take longer when the application requires approval/ authorization from relevant authorities in Indonesia. An Indonesia visa will be issued to an applicant, when all of the requirements have been met and if the issuance is considered to be appropriate.

  5. We recommend that you do not purchase your airline ticket or incur non-refundable plans until you have received your visa. The Embassy will not be liable for any financial loss incurred by a delay in the visa issuance process or unsuccessful visa application.
